Our Junk, Their Ruin
is a diorama tableau that stages the construction of a large Wonder Room. In this Room, there are drawings and models of architectural ruins, which all belong to a time in which junk is more abundant than resource, and discussions of architectural history and geology are collapsed once again since their last encounter in the nineteenth century. Junk is mostly plastic and electronic at this time and its improper formal and material characteristics are perceived in the building assemblies. Six canvas drawings complete one view and depict the construction of the diorama tableau as built inside the wall of the exhibition space. The diorama tableau is both a constructed material assembly and an image in construction.
